A new term has begun in Tunisia, says Ambassador Rhouma

MERSIN (A.A) - November 28, 2011 - Tunisian Ambassador in Ankara, Mehrez Ben Rhouma, said Monday that a new term has begun in Tunisia following a recent unrest in the country. Ambassador Rhouma paid a visit of courtesy to the head of the Turkish-Arab Countries Businessmen's Association (TURAB) Dogan Narin and members of the TURAB executive board on Monday. Praising TURAB for its active projects, Ambassador Rhouma said that "as an ambassador, my priority is to develop economic relations with Turkey". As such, I began my talks in the Cukurova region, Rhouma noted. "The Tunisian economy went backwards due to recent unrest. However, a new term has begun after stability was established. Tunisia's strategic position offers opportunities in the Arab world and Africa. Turkey and Tunisia share 400 years of common culture. We expect Turkish businesspeople to make use of such cultural relations," Rhouma underlined. Dogan Narin, in his part, said that the TURAB was established 8 years ago. TURAB was established to facilitate commercial, social and cultural relations between 22 Arab and 7 Turkic republics, Narin said. TURAB has representations in Izmir and Gaziantep, as well as in Algeria, Sudan and Syria, Narin noted. Tunisia has an important place for TURAB. We aim to boost our commercial relations with Tunisia. We will work with Ambassador Rhouma to develop our bilateral relations, Narin added.
