No American Citizens Detained Or Imprisoned In Iran: Afkham

Tehran, Feb 10, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham rejected claims about arrest of American citizens in Iran, saying that no American nationals are detained or imprisoned in the country. According to a report by Foreign Ministryˈs Media Department, she added that the individuals named by US officials, sources or media are two Iranian nationals who, like other nationals, enjoy legal rights and are responsible before law. ˈUnfortunately, the US administration has detained over 20 Iranian nationals over the baseless claim of violating unilateral and illegal anti-Iran sanctions,ˈ she said, deploring that despite follow-ups through diplomatic and legal channels, Washington has taken no measure to release the innocent citizens yet./end
