No Insecurity Along Iranian Borders: Dy Interior Minister

Tehran, June 23, IRNA – Deputy Minister of Interior Hossein-Ali Amiri said Sunday there is no security lapse along Iranˈs borders with its neighbors, saying border guards are doing their duties in the best way. Speaking exclusively to IRNA, Amiri said, ˈwe are closely monitoring the situation across the region.ˈ Referring to the significance of maintenance of security along the borders, the official said whenever there is insecurity in a neighboring country, Iranˈs National Security Council will discuss the case in an urgent meeting. On a recent meeting of the National Security Council, he said the meeting was held last week to review the security situation of Iranian borders, prior to Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazliˈs departure to Geneva. Amiri made it clear that complete security is established along the Iranian borders and that Iran is keeping a close watch on the situation in the region. When asked to comment about the fate of Iranian borderguard Jamshid Danaeefar who was abducted several months ago along Pakistani border, the deputy interior minister said that no new information is available in this regard. He touched upon the fate of Iranian fencing champion Hamed Sedaqati kidnapped in port city of Jask, southern Iran and said his case was not of security nature, and rather it was a personal case./end
