No insurmountable problems left at talks with Iran - Lavrov

UFA, July 9. /TASS/. There are no unsurmountable problems at talks on Iran’s nuclear program in Vienna, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a briefing on Thursday. "There are no unsurmountable problems left at talks on Iran [nuclear program], only if some participants, and it will not be Russia, tries to get something out of the negotiations process in the conditions of lack of time," Lavrov said. "If everyone is guided by framework agreements reached in Lausanne, then there is nothing insurmountable there," he added. "As far as I understand, there are positive shifts every day since the start of the current round of talks," Lavrov noted. "That is why I hope that no one will doubt the already made progress and will not become responsible for disrupting the agreement that is almost ready," he added. The foreign minister noted that negotiators never set artificial deadlines. "We set the timeframe. When I was leaving my colleagues, we agreed that the most important thing is reaching quality agreement that will guarantee the balance of interests and security of the nuclear weapons non-proliferation regime," Lavrov said. The final round of talks between Iran and the six powers (US, UK, Russia, China, France and Germany) on Teheran’s nuclear program is currently underway in Vienna. A final comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear dossier was originally expected to be elaborated by June 30 but the negotiating process has been extended until July 7. On Tuesday, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said that the deadline has been extended once again as the sides need several more days to reach the final comprehensive agreement. A source told TASS earlier today that the final deal may be reached today in the evening. Read more
