No Normandy Quartet meeting due after Putin-Kerry meeting - Peskov

SOCHI, May 13. /TASS/. There are no plans for more Normandy format contacts in the wake of Tuesday’s meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday. "No," was Peskov’s brief reply to the question if more Normandy Quartet contacts would follow the Putin-Kerry meeting. "The reason is there is no connection," he added. On May 12, Putin and Kerry had a four-hour meeting in the Black Sea resort of Sochi. A settlement in Ukraine was one of the themes discussed. Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told the media afterwards "the question (of the United States joining the Normandy format) was not considered." The Normandy Quartet’s participants are Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko. Read more
