No Secret Talks With G5+1: Diplomat

Tehran, Aug 4, IRNA – A Foreign Ministry official said here on Monday there are no secrets about Iran-G5+1 nuclear talks but the two sides have decided to keep silent until they reach a comprehensive final deal. Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi made the remarks in a gathering with Iranian university students and instructors abroad. Sarmadi said the decision was made because there are certain currents which are against fruition of nuclear talks between Iran and the West. ˈThe negotiators decided not to disclose details of the talks to the mediaˈ before reaching a final comprehensive agreement, he added. ˈIssues related to (nuclear) fuel and centrifuges have been settled but we have differences about the timetable on restrictions,ˈ said the diplomat. Another dispute relates to the sanctions, Sarmadi added, noting: ˈIf Iran is to take an irreversible step, then removal of the sanctions should also be irreversible and this is one of the unresolved issues.ˈ If the nuclear talks could get rid of irrelevant outside pressures, they could be successful, Sarmadi stressed. He noted the Israelis were pursuing an agenda to exert pressure on negotiating parties, particularly the US. He said Iranian students abroad should help promote Iranˈs status worldwide despite the propaganda warfare against the country.
