Nobakht: 246 Projects To Become Operational By Yearend

Tehran, Sept 9, IRNA - Vice-President for Planning and Strategic Supervision Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said at least 246 projects with 80% progress would become operational by the end of the current calendar year (March 21, 2015). Addressing a session on the process of ceding unfinished government projects to the private sector, Nobakht said one of the impediments on the way of the government towards development was unfinished projects. The vice-president said for the completion of 2906 semi-finished projects a budget of 200,000 billion tomans was needed, adding that the figure would amount to 400,000 billion tomans if the delay is taken into consideration. Therefore, he added, given the limited government financial resources, the priority would be given to projects with 80% progress. Nobakhst said impacts of the sanctions on curbing government resources is a reality but what the authorities should take into consideration is that impacts of the sanctions should be minimized with regard to local facilities and the existing resources should be used optimally. Of course, he said, the government is not after putting the burden on the shoulders of non-governmental sector and does not intend to get rid of its responsibilities. 'We are rather after taking advantage of participation and cooperation of the private and cooperative sector.” He said by the end of the current year all the provincial projects inspected by the president would be inaugurated. With regard to the limited financial resources, the government is determined to complete these plans by allocating all provincial financial facilities, Nobakht added. “We will build Iran and complete unfinished projects with the cooperation of the private and cooperative sector and we hope that through this approach we will lead the country towards pre-determined development objectives of the Vision Plan 2025.”
