North Korea wants to cooperate with Russian IT firms-press

MOSCOW, August 20 (Itar-Tass) -- North Korea has addressed Russia’s Information and Computer Technologies Industry Association (APKIT) to establish contacts with Russian IT companies, business daily Kommersant reported Wednesday, referring to the association’s Executive Director Nikolai Komlev. North Korea intends to import Russian software products, primarily antiviruses, and offers to create research centers of Russian companies. Among the Russian companies, which are of interest for North Korea, are Kaspersky Lab, I-Teco, Infowatch and the I.T. Group. A Kaspersky Lab spokesperson told the daily that they had received a proposal to discuss opportunities, but they do not have any plans for cooperation so far. A North Korean computer center administrates an internal Internet network, educates IT specialists and develops software.
