Norwegian Envoy Calls For Continuation Of Iran-5+1 Serious Talks

New York, Sept 24, IRNA – Norwegian Ambassador to the United Nations Geir O. Pedersen stressed the need to continue serious negotiations between Iran and the sextet- the US, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Pedersen said such constructive talks would be essential for bringing peace and stability to the world and the region. He made the remarks after his meeting with the European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, stressing the importance of finding diplomatic solution to the existing dispute over Iran's nuclear program. On EU's stands regarding Iran's peaceful nuclear activities, he hoped the current talks would help ensure regional stability and global peace. Although the international bodies, including the UN, are pursuing diplomatic solution as the only way to settle Iran's nuclear case, the officials of the Zionist regime have doubled their warmongering statements against Tehran in recent weeks. The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), has been stressing that its nuclear activities are solely based on peaceful purposes. Tehran has repeatedly announced its full readiness for all-out cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)./end
