Nuclear-armed Israel 'a threat to region, world'

TEHRAN, Mar. 11 (MNA) – Iran’s representative at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), voiced the concern of NAM countries over the nuclear-armed Israeli regime. Addressing a quarterly IAEA Board of Governors’ meeting on Thursday, Reza Najafi, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), called upon the IAEA to pay heed to the concerns of the NAM member states that strongly condemn Israel’s proliferation of atomic weapons. In the rest of his address under the title of ‘Israeli regime’s’ nuclear capabilities, Najafi referred to numerous calls of the international community for immediate membership of the ‘Israeli regime’ in the NPT (Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons) and full inspections of its nuclear facilities, voiced through resolutions passed by the IAEA or through conferences to review progress on curbing the spread of nuclear weapons and nuclear disarmament. “Unfortunately, the Zionist Regime has ignored the rightful requests of the international community in the last years, and having the blind support of some western countries and with infringing all international laws and regulations, has pushed its dangerous military nuclear program forward.” Najafi also criticized the double-standard approach of some western countries which are supposed to not spreading, not cooperating with this regime, or not selling equipment and raw material for military nuclear programs. He said that Israel with its capability of having nuclear weaponry and with its history of terror and aggression is a threat for the peace and security of the world. “While nuclear scientists all across the Middle East have been assassinated by the terrorists hired by this regime, the nuclear experts of this regime have access to the nuclear facilities of some countries of the region,” regretted the Iranian diplomat.
