Nuclear Issue, Just An Excuse For US To Trigger War Against Iran

New York, Aug 6, IRNA - Former US chief of staff Larry Wilkerson has said the issue of Irans peaceful nuclear activities was just an excuse for the US to trigger another war against Iran and Syria. Wilkerson is a retired United States Army Colonel and former chief of staff to the Secretary of State Colin Powell. He has criticized many aspects of the Iraq war, including his own preparation of Powells presentation to the UN. Speaking to IRNA in a recent interview, he said during the past five years, the administration of President Barack Obama has only been pursuing a diplomacy of sanctioning Iran. The US economic and political mafia has realized that only a new war against Iran and Syria would survive the country from current crises, Wilkerson said. Speaking unprecedentedly about US eco-political mafia, he stressed it was trying to bring Americans into a war with Iran and Syria as the mafia has realized that any war in the Middle East or Asia under the pretext of Iran and Syria and in the name of the fight against terrorism could vastly benefit it. Referring to Obama's policy vis-à-vis Iran, Wilkerson said all diplomatic moves made by the US president were focused on imposing more sanctions against Iran. Instead of sending a special envoy to Iran and recognizing the countrys peaceful nuclear rights in case of reaching any agreement, President Obama has so far done nothing but exerting more pressures on Tehran, Wilkerson added. However, he said the team of President Obama, including the Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and Secretary of state John Kerry, were not willing to enter any war with Iran./end
