Number one suspect in Iran`s $2.6b fraud case had links with a former minister

TEHRAN, April 30 (MNA) - Another court session in the trial of the defendants accused of involvement in a $2.6 billion financial fraud case was held in Tehran on Sunday. The Arya Investment Company is at the center of the controversy, and Mah-Afarid Amir-Khosravi, who is one of the main owners of the company, is the number one suspect in the case. His three brothers are other owners of the company. One of the defendants defended himself during the court session and said that Mah-Afarid had met with a former minister. Another defendant stated that the government had regarded Mah-Afarid as an “exemplary job creator.” The most massive fraud case in the history of Iran has triggered a wave of resignations and dismissals of the country’s banking officials.
