OANA Executive Board members gather in Tehran

Baku, September 3, AZERTAC The 43rd Executive Board Meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) has got underway in the Iranian capital of Tehran. The meeting will last until September 4. Prior to the meeting, AZERTAC Chairman of Board Aslan Aslanov met with head of Information Technology and Production Department of Mongolian National News Agency Montsame Onan Dashdorj, Director General of Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Nguyen Duc Loi, Managing Director of IRNA news agency of Iran Seyyed Zia Hashemi, and Chief of the International Relations Department of Yonhap News Agency of the Republic of Korea Kim Jin-hyun. During the meetings, the sides exchanged views on a number of AZERTAC-made proposals on the improvement of OANA's activities. They also agreed on the importance of setting up a commission for establishing the permanent office of OANA's General Secretariat and the Training Academy as well as for ensuring the appropriate use of funding and the organization of photo and other contests. Noting that Mongolia’s Montsame will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2021, Onan Dashdorj asked for assistance in holding the OANA Executive Board meeting in Ulan Bator in 2020. During the meeting with Vietnam News Agency's Director General Nguyen Duc Loi, the sides discussed prospects of cooperation between AZERTAC and VNA. Nguyen Duc Loi said that the Vietnamese government proposes to hold the OANA Executive Board meeting in Hanoi in 2019. AZERTAC Chairman of Board Aslan Aslanov discussed with Managing Director of IRNA Seyyed Zia Hashemi the issue of IRNA`s nomination for OANA’s presidency in 2022. Seyyed Zia Hashemi said he was convinced that AZERTAC Chairman of the Board, President of OANA Aslan Aslanov will provide support to them in this regard. Aslan Aslanov met with chief of the international relations department of Yonhap Kim Jin-hyun. They exchanged views on the expansion of mutual cooperation and information exchange between the two agencies. Kim Jin-hyun mentioned that serious preparations are underway for the organization of the 17th OANA General Assembly to be held in Seoul in 2019. AZERTAC Chairman of Board Aslan Aslanov also met with Director General of Qatar News Agency (QNA) Youssef Ibrahim Al-Maliki. They hailed the development of relations between the two agencies, and discussed future cooperation prospects. OANA President Aslan Aslanov’s proposals were hailed during the meetings as a significant contribution to the improvement of the organization's activities. Officials of the news agencies noted that these proposals will be supported at the Executive Board meeting.
