Obamaˈs Belated Admission Of Extremism As Mideastˈs Challenge

Tehran, Sept 9, IRNA – Following four years of Washingtonˈs all-out military and political support of armed rebels against Syrian government, US President Barack Obama has admitted that religious extremism is the main problem of the Middle East countries, many of which happen to be the US allies in the region. Speaking on the NBC's flagship program Meet the Press on Sunday, the US chief executive spoke of his administration's plans to fight against the brutal ISIL terrorist group (also known as Daesh) and assured Americans that it would be defeated. His remarks came as Daesh militia, who are backed by US allies in the region, beheaded the second American journalist captured in Syria which pressured Obama to order shifting aerial attacks on the group from Iraq to Syria. According to the official VOA website, US president reiterated his stand on despatching army troops to directly fight Daesh fighters and roll back the policy of limiting the attacks to air raids and supporting the Iraqi Army and Kurdish forces. Obama also told NBC moderator Chuck Todd that the White House does not intend to go it alone against Daesh and that it will act as part of an international coalition. Therefore, he urged Arab countries in the region to use all within their might to combat extremism./end
