Official Calls For Launching Of Sangan Free Economic Zone

Mashhad, Sept 11, IRNA - Head of the Mining and Mineral Industries Commission of Mashhad Chamber of Commerce has proposed establishment of Sangan Free Economic Zone with the focus on iron ore related industries on Iran borders with Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. Hassan Hadian told IRNA that the proposal was aimed at development of eastern Iran in line with the development of the region. He said iron ore related industries as well as downstream steel industries could become operational in the region through joint investment. He added that with the realization of the plan one of the main development capacities will become active in eastern Iran while political and security border patrolling will become possible through regional development. He pointed to the unique advantage of the region in the field of storage and transit of goods from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan to the Iranian open sea among positive results of implementation of the plan./end
