Official Criticizes UN Silence On West's Ban Of Pharmaceuticals Sale To Iran

Tehran, Nov 7, IRNA – Head of the Medical Council of Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Shahabeddin Sadr, in a letter to the UN Chief Ban Ki-Moon on Tuesday, criticized the UN silence on medical and pharmaceutical sanctions imposed on Iran by western and European states, led by the US. "As you know, the UN is an independent international institution, established with an aim to establish peace, security and justice among countries and prevent war and poverty in the world," read the message. "What gives identity and credit to the organization is its actions in line with its humanitarian and moral goals and what degrades the organization is its serving as a body dominated by the superpowers." "Ban Ki-Moon! recent inhumane moves by western and European states, led by the US, to ban sale of medicines and medical equipment to Iran has unveiled the real nature of arrogant powers and proved that Iran's peaceful nuclear program is just a pretext for further attacks pn the Iranian people and their Islamic Revolution." He said the Iranian people will do their utmost to defend their legal rights at all costs./end
