Official Underlines Significant Role Of Iran-Turkey Ties In Restoration Of Regional Peace

Orumiyeh, W. Azarbaijan Prov., July 24, IRNA – Orumyieh governor-general Javad Sharifnejad on Tuesday underlined significant role of Iran-Turkey relations in restoration of peace and stability in the region. In a farewell meeting with Turkeys outgoing consul general in Orumiyeh, Sharifnejad hoped for ever growing ties and all-out promotion of economic and cultural exchanges between both nations. He said expansion of relations in border cities will serve to upgrade bilateral relations. He thanked Turkish government for upgrading customs hardware west of Orumiyeh and said that Orumiyeh customs office has been provided with necessary facilities and equipment to deliver advanced services. He noted that providing necessary facilities for transit of cargo and passenger by the customs offices would help upgrade trade and cooperation. Sharifnjead said that Iran and Turkey have established economic and commercial commissions which are helpful to promote trade and economic ties. He called for holding regular meetings of Iran-Turkey economic commission. The Turkish official for his part called for expansion of bilateral relations, especially on the border cities. He said the potential of the border cities and provinces should be used for trade and cultural exchanges./end
