Official: Weˈve Told US We Wonˈt Tolerate More Sanctions

London, Sept 9, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister in Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi says Iran has told US that Tehran would not tolerate any more sanctions. Araqchi, a chief Iranian negotiator on nuclear issue, told Jon Snow of British TV News Channel 4, such sanctions are against the principle of good intention which should rule the atmosphere of the negotiations. On the negotiations between Iran and US, Araqchi said there is good interaction but it does not mean that we have solved all problems between the two sides. He said he was optimistic and thinks that meetings in New York on the sidelines of UN General Assembly annual session is a good chance to advance the negotiations. He said a good agreement which is wanted by all is one that keeps dignity of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 'Respecting Iran's economic interest, lifting the sanctions, recognizing the rights of Iran in access to peaceful nuclear technology are the prerequisites of keeping the dignity of the Islamic Republic of Iran,' said Araqchi. On the possible defeat of the negotiations, Araqchi said, 'Let's not think about it. Any alternative to the negotiations would be terrible because it would be a new source of tension in the region.' On the Terrorist group of ISIS, Araqch said the so called Islamic State is exactly a terrorist group and a threat to the region and outside the region. 'We do whatever we can for our and our friends' security. We do not deny helping Iraq and we are not ashamed to say that we have helped Syria against this terrorist group and we will continue that.' 'The United states has a big responsibility. An important part of the chaos created in the region is due to US policies in the past and their interferences.' Araqchi rejected cooperation between Iran and US in fighting against ISIS and said,' We just help the government of Iraq. If Iraq uses help of any other country, that's a different issue.' He admitted that there are common concerns on the ISIS threats. On the negotiations between Iran and the West, Araqchi said the talks are only on the nuclear problem. On a question on the possible separation of Scotland from the UK, and if it Happens, will Iran start diplomatic relations with Scotland, Araqchi said right now, making full diplomatic relations with Britain is Iran's first priority./end
