OIC Sec-Gen Condemns Use Of Chemical Weapons In Syria

Tehran, April 16, IRNA – Secretary-General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on Monday denounced using chemical weapons by insurgents in Syria. In a meeting with Iranˈs Ambassador and Permanent Representative to OIC Hamidreza Dehqani, he underlined the need to pursue the issue through the United Nations and international forums such as the Organization for Prohibiting Chemical Weapons. He recalled Iraqi dictatorˈs using of chemical weapons against Iran in 1980s, and said that the US unsparing supports to the dictator encouraged him to violate the international conventions. Dehgjani, for his part, condemned using chemical weapons by terrorists in the Arab state and described chemical weapons as the weapons of mass destruction./end
