OIC Secretary General calls on Libyans to unity

Azerbaijan, Baku, March 7 / Trend A.Taghiyeva / Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has called on Libyans to preserve unity in order to avoid a split in the country, the organization's statement said on Wednesday. Ihsanoglu also urged Libyans to support the National Transitional Council (NTC) during the period when the country is on the way to recovery after large-scale changes Libya went through. Earlier leaders of some Libyan tribes in the east in Cyrenaica province declared autonomy. Cyrenaica province is rich in oil and the country's largest oil company is also situated in this province. Armed clashes between opposition rebel forces and government forces of former leader of the Jamahiriya, Muammar Gaddafi, who had ruled the country for almost 40 years continued for nearly a year in Libya. In autumn, 2011 the Libyan opposition formed NTC, which after the death of Qaddafi and the liberation of the country, still leads Libya. Do you have any feedback?
