Old US methods no more to solve terrorism issue: Iranian FM

TEHRAN, Sep. 20 (MNA) – Iran’s FM has said the US and west will not be able to solve the terrorism issue with clinching to their same old methods. Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with Spanish counterpart in New York censured US double-standards regarding terrorists and extremists in Iraq and Syria and said that "with the same old policies the US and west will not be able to solve the terrorism issue." José Manuel García-Margallo and Mohamamd Javad Zarif in a bilateral meeting in New York discussed process of Islamic Republic's nuclear negotiations, regional developments, fighting terrorism and bilateral issues. Zarif told Spanish counterpart that "fighting terrorism in Syria on one hand and efforts against the Syrian government on the other, are two contradictory issues." He also pointed to terrorists’ actions in Iraq which lasted for four months so far and said that the US had not done any efforts to fihgt ISIL and prevented aid tansfer to this country. García-Margallo said that his country was ready to help solve the problems in Syria and Iraq and added that Iran should had been invited to the Paris conference. An international summit on the crisis in Iraq was held in Paris, with French President Francois Hollande trying to gather a coalition for immediate military action against ISIL. The International Conference on Peace and Security in Iraq discussed ways of tackling the ISIL terrorists in Iraq and Syria amid US efforts to form a so-called international coalition to battle the Takfiri group. Despite the international community’s emphasis on the importance of Iran’s role in the regional developments, Tehran wass not been invited to the meeting in Paris mainly due to the US opposition. Iran cast doubt over the sincerity of the coalition and reiterated that there was no interest in attending the Paris meeting.
