OSCE to hold monitoring on troops contact line

Baku, February 21 (AzerTAc). In accordance with the mandate of special envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, the OSCE mission will hold a monitoring on troops contact line in Kuropatkino village of Khojavand region, Azerbaijan on Friday. According to Azerbaijan`s Defence Ministry, the monitoring will be held on the Azerbaijani area by Field assistants of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Jiri Aberle, and personal assistant William Pryor. On the opposite area, the monitoring will be conducted by the OSCE Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andzei Kaspshik, field assistants Hristo Hristov and Evgeny Sharov and head of financial administration of the office Jonathan Ferraby. The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France and the U.S. - are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council`s four resolutions demanding the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
