Outside pressure on Russia and Turkey brings two countries closer together - Turkish Ambassador to Russia

MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. The external pressure exerted on Russia and Turkey brings the two countries closer together and promotes mutual sympathy between the Russian and Turkish peoples, Turkey’s Ambassador to Russia Umit Yardim told Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov on Friday. "If one turns to public opinion, I’m sure, Russia, the Russian people and the Russian President will occupy the highest positions in the sympathy rankings of the Turkish people. I haven’t the slightest doubt of that," the diplomat said. In his opinion, one of the reasons for that is outside pressure. "Russia and Turkey understand each other very well in this respect. There is no substance behind unacceptable propaganda carried out with regard to both countries. My personal conviction is that it’s one of the elements that brings our two countries closer together," the ambassador said. Yardim voiced confidence that Russia and Turkey would in due course "become the shaping powers, not only regionally but also globally." He noted that during a time when the situation was unstable in many parts of the world Russia and Turkey would continue to contribute to promoting stability." The Turkish ambassador also pointed to the need for the relations between the two countries to reach a new level. "Russia occupies a leading position in Turkey’s foreign policy, and we see the development of our relations in various fields," he said. Read more
