PACE spring session kicks off in Strasbourg

Strasbourg, April 23, AZERTAC The spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has started in Strasbourg. An Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation led by Samad Seyidov, chairman of the parliament's committee on international and inter-parliamentary relations, is attending the session. The spring session will hear the report from the Assembly Bureau and the standing committee, and exchange views on the issues relating to Paris Agreement on climate change, the status of journalists in Europe, the current situation and the Council of Europe’s role in Libya, human rights obligations of hybrid war, integration of migrant children and their compulsory education. A report on the rights and humanitarian needs of internally displaced persons in Europe is also on the agenda. The session will focus on urgent debates on “Rising anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and xenophobia in Europe: a threat to European values”. The Foreign Minister of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia will address the Assembly and respond to questions from the parliamentarians. PACE members will also hold an exchange of views with the Secretary General of the Organisation and the Chairman of the Committee of Ministers.
