Pak. Religious Leader Condemns US-engineered Sanctions On Iran

Islamabad, April 28, IRNA – Deputy Chief of Pakistan’s major religious party on Saturday strongly condemned US-engineered sanctions against Iran adding that they have no justification. Talking to IRNA Jamaat-e-Islami leader and ex-Senator Prof. Khurshid Ahmad said that sanctions have made Iran strong and self sufficient in all sectors. “Iranian economy is moving in a right direction despite sanctions,” said the politician. Expressing his views the religious leader said that though Iran is progressing despite sanctions but they should be lifted from the Islamic Republic. He said that sanctions against Iran are actually political vendetta of western states. The JI leader urged all Muslim countries to unite and strongly condemn western sanctions against Iran. Former Senator said that self-reliance has increased in Iran after sanctions. “Iran for past many years is pursuing the policy of self-reliance,” the politician added. Prof. Khurshid Ahmad added that Iran has become a symbol of resistance for the Muslim world. He said that all Muslim countries should follow the example of Iran in rejecting the western pressures. The political leader went on to say that there is a need for forging collective self reliance among Muslim Ummah. “Muslim rulers must not play in the hands of western states and damage the interests of Muslims,” he added. He said that Pakistan has too faced the wrath of West in the form of sanctions but they (West) have failed to stop Pakistan from progressing. Prof. Khurshid Ahmad said that presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan is destabilizing the region. He demanded foreign force to leave Afghanistan as early as possible. He added that no country hast the right to interfere in the internal affairs of any other state./end
