Pakistan Calls For End To US Drone Strikes

Islamabad, Oct 31, IRNA – Pakistan Interior Minister, Rehman Malik has demanded an immediate end to U.S. drone attacks in the country. In an interview with CNN‚ the minister said drone attacks are rendering Pakistan's efforts to counter-terrorism ineffective. He said despite all the resources the United States could not make sufficient gains in Afghanistan. The Interior Minister stressed that military operation is not a solution to problem of militancy. To a question‚ he ruled out any military operation in North Waziristan Agency to fight militancy. He said the 14-year girl, Malala Yousufzai, who was shot and injured by Taliban gunmen and now under treatment at Birmingham hospital, would be given full security on her return to Pakistan. He said she had been offered security before her shooting but her father had refused. Malik said that Malala and her parents can stay in Britain for as long as they needed and until her full recovery. He said Police is searching for three suspects believed to be involved in attack on Malala./end
