Pakistan Condemns Attack On Afghan Intelligence Chief

Islamabad, Dec 8, IRNA -- Pakistan Friday strongly condemned attack on Afghan Intelligence Chief Assadullah Khalid, and reiterated to continue work with Afghanistan to fight against terrorism. Head of the Afghan National Directorate of Security was injured in the attack in Kabul on Thursday. Taliban had claimed responsibility for the attack, which they said was a revenge to the recent execution of several Taliban prisoners. The Taliban Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that the attacker had posed as a 'peace messenger'. President Hamid Karzai visited the injured intelligence chief at a Kabul hospital and later said that he is out of danger, the Afghan media reported. “Pakistan strongly condemns the attack in Kabul yesterday that wounded Assadullah Khalid, Head of the Afghan National Directorate of Security. Our thoughts and prayers are with him. We hope for his early recovery,” the Foreign Ministry said. A Foreign Ministry statement said Pakistan remains committed to peace and stability in Afghanistan. “The two countries face the common threat of terrorism. We will continue to work closely with Afghanistan to eliminate this scourge,” it said./end
