Pakistan Database, Registration Authority Deploys IBMS At Pak-Iran Border

Islamabad, March 6, IRNA – Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) successfully implemented Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) at Gawadar International Airport and new land border Gabadt, a media report said on Tuesday. ‘The Nation’ reported that NADRA spokesperson in a statement has said that the system is designed and tailored specifically as per immigration laws of Pakistan, which helps prevent illegal entry, use of counterfeit documents, human smuggling, and other travel fraud. IBMS is now operational at Pak-Iran border for the management of passengers of all entries/exists through these stations and effective tomorrow all passengers will be processed through the system, she added. She said NADRA is the partner for the implementation of IBMS for Federal Immigration Authority (FIA) to replace the existing PISCES system at all the entry and exist points in Pakistan including Airport, Railway Stations and land routes. Moreover, it is pertinent to mention that IBMS is already operational on all major international airports including Benazir International Airport Islamabad, Quiad-e-Azam International Airport Karachi, Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta. NADRA also implemented IBMS and land border between Pak-Afghan border at Torkham, and rail route between Pakistan India at Khorapar, Sindh. Highlighting IBMS features, she said it has been designed to document and store the entire process starting from visa issuance till departure and arrivals from the country thus preventing illegal human trafficking as well as illegal immigrants to flee from the country. IBMS has been equipped with the latest technologies like advance fingerprint matching, digital facial recognition system, specialized handling for different categories of travelers, she added. NADRA is working on all remaining land and sea borders to deploy its homegrown technology. The system is developed by software engineers of NADRA indigenously. The integrated system uses NADRA, Passport, Exit Control databases, Airport Surveillance feeds, Visa information and other related databases to ensure unwanted persons should not enter Pakistan and track over staying people beyond their departure date on legal visas. The system is already functioning successfully on Quetta International Airport. Minister of Interior, Rehman Malik is expected to inaugurate the system formally soon./end
