Pakistan ready to provide Azerbaijan support in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict issue

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 27 By Ali Mustafayev - Trend: Pakistan is ready to provide Azerbaijan with support in the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict issue, Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan Saeed Khan Mohmand said at a press conference titled "Black Day of Kashmir" in Baku. "Pakistan repeatedly declared support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and recognized the events of Khojaly as a genocide. And we very much appreciate the support of Azerbaijan for the issue of Kashmir, and we are ready to provide the same support in the Karabakh issue," he said. Further, the ambassador said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have been successfully cooperating for the past 25 years. The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts. Follow Trend on Telegram.
