Pakistan Senator Hails Success Of Ahmadinejad Gov't

Islamabad, March 16, IRNA – Senator from Pakistani ruling party on Thursday praised the success of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government in diplomatic and economic sectors. Talking to IRNA Senator Saeed Ghani of Pakistan Peopleˈs Party Parliamentarian (PPP-P) said that sanctions have proved to be a futile exercise against Iran as the country has become self-sufficient in all fields. “Sanctions cannot deter Iran from achieving its objectives,” said the lawmaker. He added that it is very good to see that Iran is progressing despite western curbs. “We have always appreciated the policies of Iranian government,” said the politician. He added that western policies have been failed in Iraq and Afghanistan. “They had attacked Iraq on the pretext of the presence of weapons of mass destruction and then they ruined Afghanistan on assumptions,” said Saeed Ghani. The Senator expressing his views said that Americans are withdrawing from Afghanistan which clearly shows their defeat. The parliamentarian said that Iran is close neighbor of Pakistan and is ‘trying to help us to overcome our energy crisis.’ He stressed the need to further enhancing the trade between Iran and Pakistan. The political leader appreciated the decision of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government to establish oil refinery in Pakistan and extending their cooperation to Pakistan in energy sector. He further said that Pakistan must import gas and electricity from Iran as soon as possible. He said that bilateral trade would ultimately benefit the people of the region. Saeed Ghani welcomed the inauguration of final construction phase of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project by President Zardari and President Ahmadinejad. “We are facing acute energy shortage and the gas pipeline from Iran is the timely solution to address our energy crisis”, said that lawmaker./end
