Pakistani Analyst Sees Bright Future Of Iran-Pakistan Ties

Islamabad, June 11, IRNA - A renowned Pakistani journalist on Monday said that the newly elected government of Nawaz Sharif in Pakistan is interested in developing strong relationship with Islamic Republic of Iran. Talking to IRNA Asma Shirazi added that Iran is a close friend of Pakistan and every government in Pakistan wants to have strong ties with the Islamic Republic. She said that US would definitely pressurize the government of Nawaz Sharif on its relations with Iran but the Prime Minister has already given a policy statement that he desires to have deep relations with Iran. “US is against strong Iran-Pakistan ties,” noted the journalist. The Analyst was of the view the government of Nawaz Sharif would complete Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project. “We have to wait and see what steps the government would take to improve ties with Iran because it is very important for the stability of the region,” she said. She said that Nawaz Sharif has to take critical decisions on curbing terrorism which is the major problem of Pakistan. Asma Shirazi said that the role of Saudi Arabia is very important in this regards because it is alleged that the country is involved in funding terrorists in Pakistan. The journalist was of the view that government has to take those decisions which are in the interest of Pakistan. She added that the government has to explore all energy options to overcome power crisis in Pakistan including Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.
