Pakistani Educationist Backs Iran’s Enrichment Right

Islamabad, April 27, IRNA -- Vice Chancellor of a Pakistani university supported Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear technology asking west to quit the policy of double standards. Talking to IRNA, Rasul Jan, Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar said that western policy of double standards is totally objectionable. He said the nuclear technology is the right of every nation because you know energy is the key to economic prosperity. ˈI think it is the right of every country,ˈ he added. The educationist said that pressure on Iran regarding its nuclear program is totally unjustified. ˈThis is not a recent phenomenon they (western states) have done it before with other countries,ˈ he said. Expressing his views, Rasul Jan said that it is strange that they are providing enrichment facilities to one country and stopping the other country from developing the same technology. ˈYes it is the Zionist Regime, they are supporting the illegitimate stateˈs nuclear program,ˈ he said. “Before joining university of Peshawar as a vice chancellor I was vice chancellor of university of Malakand and we had signed a Mou between the university of Malakand and Sabzevar University in Iran and then we actually expanded that relationship to some other universities in Tehran,” he said. “Now when I joined Peshawar University we will be planning similar relationship with universities in Iran because I saw they have developed indigenous equipment,” he said. The educationist said Iranians are not importing the scientific equipment from outside, like in their physics and chemistry laboratories. ˈAs I am a chemist and I saw they are very good in the field, so we are looking forward for collaboration with Iranian universities,ˈ he said. Rasul Jan said that the other reason that ˈwe are inclined to Iranian universities is that we donˈt have problem of culture with themˈ. “I am basically looking towards the eastern side and the neighboring countries for cooperation in education,” he said. “We would like to have MoUs with Iran, Malaysia and Turkey,” he added./end
