Pakistani Lawmaker Praises Islamic Democracy In Iran

Islamabad, May 16, IRNA -- A Pakistani Senator welcoming upcoming presidential election in Iran said on Wednesday that Islamic democracy is flourishing in Iran without any difficulty. Talking to IRNA Senator Col (R) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said that despite difficult times, elections in Iran have been regularly taking place. He added that elections would give people an opportunity to elect leadership of their own choice. The political leader added that there is no doubt that Iran is the strongest Islamic democratic state in the world. “Iran is a trend setter for the Islamic world,” he said. The parliamentarian noted that in Iran elections have always being held on time even in the time of war. The politician said that Iran is giving a massage to the dictatorships of Muslim world. “This is real democracy,” he said. The MQM leader expressing his views said that every government in Iran works for its people and enjoy full support of the nation. “I welcome the upcoming elections in Iran and pray for the stability of the Islamic Republic,” said Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi. He said that all candidates that would be selected to contest the elections would be sane and respectful. “They would strengthen Islamic democracy in the country, I wish them good luck,” said the Senator. The legislator was of the view that Iran has become a precedent for the world in holding fair and transparent elections. “Iran is the only Islamic country that is following Islamic principles in letter and spirit,” he said. The politician viewed that Father of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini has given a great system to his country. “Iran is following the best possible social system, which is the Islamic democratic system,” noted the lawmaker./end
