Pakistani MP Terms Anti-Islam Film, Blasphemous Caricatures As Mischievous Acts

Islamabad, Sept 22, IRNA – A Pakistani lawmaker on Friday strongly condemned US-made anti-Islam film and publication of blasphemous caricatures by a French magazine terming them as mischievous acts. Talking to IRNA, Member of the National Assembly belonging to Pakistan Muslim League (PML)-Nawaz, Khurram Dastgir Khan said that Muslims will not tolerate any move to malign the Holy Prophet Muhammad. “West should avoid acts of incitements,” he said. The political leader expressing his views said the blasphemous film made in name of freedom of expression has certainly hurt sentiments of billions of Muslims. “It forced the people to come out to streets to record their protest against the shameful act,” said the politician. The lawmaker viewed such type of freedom of expression is counter-productive and cannot be permitted anywhere in the world. He added that publication of blasphemous caricatures by a French magazine will add fuel to the anger of Muslims. Khurram Dastgir Khan said West has to respect religious sentiments of Muslims adding they have to understand that what important place Prophet Mohammad holds for Muslims. “If they make such kinds of films, it would certainly enrage Muslims,” said the lawmaker. The PML-N leader added that western societies must be prepared for strong reaction for mischievous acts. He said that the governments of western states have to teach their population that Holy Prophet holds a place in Islam which cannot be mocked or ridiculed. 'Muslims have been hurt by the film,” he said. Khurram Dastgir Khan was of the view that legal action must be taken against the makers of the sacrilegious movie and blasphemous caricatures in France. “You cannot hurt the religious sentiment of anyone in the name of freedom of expression,” said the Parliamentarian. He said that Western societies are biased and there are elements in West which hate the others’ religious beliefs. “They will continue to produce such things in future,” he warned. He added that the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) has been ineffective in defending the rights of Muslims. “It should have come up with a strong voice against the anti-Islam film,” said the legislator. Khurram Dastgir Khan said that it is the responsibility of the Muslims living in US and France to come on to the streets against such shameful acts.
