Pakistani PM To Attend Trilateral Summit On Afghanistan In London

Islamabad, Oct 28, IRNA - Pakistani Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, will attend a trilateral summit on Afghanistan in London this month, officials announced. British Prime Minister, David Cameron, will host the summit which will be also attended by Afghan President Hamid Karzai, they said. It will be second trilateral summit in nine months. Former president Asif Ali Zardari had represented Pakistan in the last trilateral summit at the Chequers in February. The previous Afghanistan-Pakistan-UK summit had agreed on a six-month Afghan peace road-map but it did not work. Advisor to the Foreign Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar and Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani will accompany the PM. Afghan Foreign Ministry said Sunday that President Karzai will seek information about the Taliban leader, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, who Pakistan had freed last month but Kabul says he has not yet been allowed free movement. The Pakistan PM will also attend a World Islamic Economic Forum in London on October 29-31. This is the Forums first annual event in Europe following successes in Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Kuwait and Pakistan. At the 9th WIEF, the delegates will explore business and investment opportunities. Key areas of focus at the upcoming forum in London include Islamic banking and finance, technology, infrastructure development, health, exports, education and youth. British Foreign Secretary William Hague and British Home Secretary Theresa May will call on the PM./end
