Pakistani PM To Raise Drone Attacks With Obama: Minister

Islamabad, Oct 23, IRNA - Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be able to convince US leadership on Pakistan's stance on drone attacks, the country’s information minister has said. PM Sharif will meet US President Barack Obama at the White House in Washington on Wednesday on the last day of his three-day official visit. This will be the first meeting of the two leaders, the Foreign Ministry said. Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said the prime minister will also inform US President about the dialogue process with the Taliban to establish peace in the country. Pakistan is an independent and sovereign state and will not allow anyone to interfere in its internal affairs, he said, adding the government has already made it clear that no foreign dictation will be accepted at all. The Foreign Ministry says this is the first official visit of a premier to the United States in 5 years. Prior to his meeting with President Obama, the PM has met with Secretary of State John Kerry, Vice President Biden and had interaction with Members of Congress. Senior US government officials also called on the PM. He attended a business event organized by US-Pakistan Business Council, addressed the United States Institute of Peace and interact with the Pakistani-American community./end
