Pakistani Prosecutor In Benazir Bhutto Murder Case Shot Dead

Islamabad, May 5, IRNA – A senior prosecutor in the assassination case of former Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto, was killed n firing in Islamabad early Friday, hospital sources said. Chaudhry Zulfikar was heading to the anti-terrorism court in the garrison city of Rawalpindi when he came under attack, his son, Nisar said. He had received bullet injuries and was shifted to the main hospital where he died of wounds. Zulfikar’s guard was also injured in the attack by motorcyclists near Karachi Company marketplace area. Both were taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences Islamabad in critical condition. Some doctors said he died at the scene as he had received several bullets on face and other parts of the body. The attackers fled after the firing at 7:30 a.m. No group claimed responsibility. Zulfikar’s son was quoted by the local media as saying that his father had received threats from a banned extremist group. The prosecutor was going to Rawalpindi to appear before the court in the Benazir Bhutto murder case. Former President Pervez Musharraf was also summoned to the court on Friday./end
