Pakistani Senate Condemns Desecration Of Holy Quran

Islamabad, March 7, IRNA – Pakistani Senate has strongly condemned desecration of the Holy Quran by the American soldiers posted in Afghanistan. Afghan officials say that the US soldiers had burnt copies of the Holy Quran at Bagram airbase last month. This was not the first time the American troops desecrated the Holy Book while similar incidents have taken place at Guantanamo detention center. The Pakistani Senate in a resolution demanded the government to urge the United Nations, international community and the United States to react against the agents of this blatant act. Describing it an outrageous act, the Upper House of the parliament also called upon the Muslim countries to demand from NATO and United States to take strict action against those involved in it. 'This House condemns in strongest terms, the outrageous act of burning the copies of the Holy Quran by the NATO Army personnel posted in Afghanistan,' the consensus resolution read./end
