Palestinian FM Conveys Message From Palestine Authority Chief To President Rohani

Tehran, Aug 6, IRNA – Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki on Monday conveyed a message from Palestine Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas to President Hassan Rohani. He submitted the written message to First Vice-President Ishaq Jahangiri. Welcoming the message, Jahangiri said that the president of Iran would consider the message. Noting that Palestine has always been a major subject for Iran over the past 34 years, Jahangiri said that Palestine has special importance for Iranian government and nation and hoped that through their wise resistance to Israeli aggressions, Palestinian nation would soon regain their denied rights. He thanked Palestinian foreign minister for taking part in the swearing-in ceremony of Rohani. Jahangiri said that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports understanding among Palestinian groups and believes that understandings would help settle Palestinian plight. The first vice-president said that presence of Palestine at the United Nations as an observer would be a positive step towards restoration of rights of the Palestinian nation. He hoped that UN membership in the future would reach a stage to alleviate sufferings of Palestinian nation and pave the way to restoration of their rights. Touching on the World Qods Day rallies, he said millions of Iranian people took to streets on the day, chanting slogans in support for the oppressed Palestinian nation. The Palestinian foreign minister for his part thanked Iranian officials for their warm hospitality and congratulated presidency of Rohani. He hoped that during tenure of Rohani, Iran-Palestine cooperation would be promoted in line with interests of the two sides and of Islamic Ummah. As for Iran-Palestine relations, he said Palestinian nation is optimistic with presidency of Rohani, hoping for a big jump in bilateral ties./end
