Palestinian President Abbas receives certificate of "Honorary Citizenship" from Konya province

KONYA (A.A) - December 20, 2011 - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas received a certificate of "Honorary Citizenship" from the Municipality of Konya province on Tuesday. Speaking at the ceremony in which Abbas received his certificate, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that they were thankful to Abbas for receiving the certificate of "Honorary Citizenship" from Konya province. We feel the honor of presenting the certificate to President Abbas, Davutoglu said. Also speaking at the ceremony, President Abbas said that he was honored to be given a certificate of "Honorary Citizenship" from Konya. We have always witnessed warm hospitality from our Turkish brothers and sisters and they have always supported the Palestinian cause. Receiving the certificate of "Honorary Citizenship" from Konya is an honor for me and the people of Palestine, Abbas said. Mayor of Konya Tahir Akyurek, in his part, said that the Palestinian cause was in the heart of Konya residents. The Palestinian cause is now the cause of Konya residents from now on as the Palestinian President Abbas has become a resident of Konya, Akyurek underlined.
