Palestinians Supportersˈ Sec Gen: Palestine, Test Scene For Islamic World

Tehran, May 13, IRNA – Sec Gen of Supporters of Palestinian Nation said here Sunday Palestine is test scene for Islamic world since if Muslims would stand firm in this crisis West would realize new equations, while Muslims silence there would lead to all-out western onslaught. Mohammad-Reza Soltan-Shahi who was speaking at a conference titled Scientific Survey of Aftermath of Zionist Regimeˈs Formation and Achievements of Islamic Resistance, further reiterated, ˈThe ˈYaum un-Nikbahˈ (Catastrophe Day) around whose axis the Zionist regimeˈs crimes began occurring is the start of Palestineˈs intolerable plight.ˈ He said, ˈOn that dark day more than 800 thousand defenseless Palestinians were either slaughtered in the course of the Zionistsˈ terrorist acts, or removed forcefully from their homes.ˈ Soltan-Shahi added, ˈThe Zionists on that day established terrorist squads and started mass murder of children, women and men, young and old, in Palestinian villages, spreading the seeds of horror and dismay throughout the occupied Palestine.ˈ The Secretary General of Group of Supporters of Palestinian Nation further reiterated, ˈIn the course of that mass ethnic cleansing over 80,000 Palestinians were forcefully removed from their homes and became refugees in the neighboring countries.ˈ He reiterated, ˈThe Palestinian refugees had initially assumed that their intolerable new situation was going to be solved in a short term period with the interference of the concerned international organs and the defense of the Arab countries of them, allowing them to return to their homes once again.ˈ Soltan-Shahi said, ˈBut unfortunately, the United Nations resorted to cunning tricks against the Palestinians deceiving them and burning golden opportunities for solving the problem and pursued its activities in this regard in a way that today it is over 60 years that a huge majority of the Palestinian nation has been living as refugees.ˈ The Secretary General of Group of Supporters of Palestinian Nation said, ˈToday the six million Palestinian refugees in different countries are living in conditions which are far bellow the minimum living standards.ˈ He concluded his remarks hoping that the freedom-seekers around the globe would soon get rid of the situation imposed against them and particularly the Palestinian refugees would be able to return to their long-seized beloved homeland. Yawm an-Nakba, meaning ˈDay of the Catastropheˈ is generally commemorated on 15th of May, the day after the Gregorian calendar date for Israeli Independence Day (Yom Haˈatzmaut). For the Palestinians it is an annual day of commemoration of the displacement that preceded and followed the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948. During the 1948 Palestine War, an estimated 700,000 Palestinians were expelled or fled, and hundreds of Palestinian villages were depopulated and destroyed. These refugees and their descendants number several million people today, divided between Jordan (2 million), Lebanon (427,057), Syria (477,700), the West Bank (788,108) and the Gaza Strip (1.1 million), with at least another quarter of a million internally displaced Palestinians in Israel. The displacement, dispossession and dispersal of the Palestinian people is known to them as an-Nakba, meaning ˈcatastropheˈ or ˈdisaster”./end
