Parliament Seeking To Cooperate With New Government: MP

Ilam, Aug 13, IRNA – Lawmaker Ahmad Shohani said on Monday that the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) is seeking to support the new government to go ahead with its plans. Shohani who is a member of Foreign Policy and National Security Commission of the Parliament told IRNA that the Parliament wants a strong and energetic government to remove economic problems of the people. The parliament is determined to cooperate with the new government to carry out big tasks, particularly in the economic field, he said. He noted that the majority of lawmakers want to help the government go ahead with its plans and solve the problems. The Parliament Monday morning started debate on competency of 18 proposed cabinet ministers of President Hassan Rohani. President Rohani unveiled the list of his proposed cabinet members during his swearing-in ceremony on August 4. Out of the total 290 members of the Parliament, 231 lawmakers are present in today's formal session presided over by Speaker Ali Larijani./end
