People Respond to WPK's Call for Recovery from Disaster

Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee recently made an appealing call for all-out battle to recover the disaster areas in northern part of the country's North Hamgyong Province. In hearty response to this call, all the servicepersons and civilians of the DPRK have turned out in a flood damage rehabilitation drive, regarding it as another war to protect the people's happiness and the socialist system. According to Jo Po Gun, head of a department of the Cabinet Secretariat, a rehabilitation headquarters was set up to push ahead with the drive on a full scale. Dr. Pae Se Hwa, dean of a faculty of Pyongyang University of Architecture, told KCNA: The WPK Central Committee put up a slogan "Every effort for the victory in the front of recovering from the flood damage in the northern part of North Hamgyong Province!" This militant slogan recalls us to the fighting spirit displayed during the Fatherland Liberation War and the postwar reconstruction in the 1950s. With the slogan, all teachers, researchers and students of the university turned out in a work of drawing out designs for new houses to be built in the flood-hit areas. Kim Ki Song, head of the Chongjin Railway Bureau, said that the railway sector should play a key role in the rehabilitation drive, adding: All railway stations in Chongjin City are seething with trains carrying cement and other building materials, foodstuffs, medicines and clothes from industrial establishments and people across the country. And construction units are arriving in the flood-hit areas one after another from different parts of the country, including the capital city of Pyongyang. -0-
