PM to endorse three documents at ASEAN summit

SINGAPORE, April 27 (TNA) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha will join ASEAN leaders to endorse three documents to enhance cooperation in cyber security and promote smart cities network. Gen Prayut is scheduled to arrive in Singapore at about 3 pm (local time), one hour ahead of Thailand’s time to attend the ASEAN Summit from April 27-28. Lt Gen Werachon Sukondhapatipak, Deputy Government Spokesperson, said the 32nd ASEAN Summit will be held under the theme “Resilient and Innovative” which is aimed at strengthening the collective resilience of ASEAN, and promoting innovation in politics, economy, and socio-culture among member countries. The Prime Minister will deliver a statement to endorse resilient and innovative ASEAN. His statement will focus on promoting sustainable development, coping with the aging society, and strengthening cyber security. ASEAN leaders will endorse three documents, including ASEAN Leaders’ Vision for a Resilient and Innovative ASEAN, Concept Note on ASEAN Smart Cities Network and ASEAN Leaders’ Statement on Cybersecurity Cooperation. Singapore will also endorse establishment of an ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN). Three pioneer smart cities will be identified to mobilize innovative ASEAN Community. Thailand has made progress in the concept of the establishment of smart cities in Bangkok, Phuket and Chonburi. Innovation and technology will link Thai smart cities to other smart cities in the region, Lt Gen Werachon said. - (TNA)
