PM meets Iranian Vice President

BANGKOK, May 17 (TNA) -- Mr Mohammad Bagher Nobakht, Vice President of Iran, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha. Lt Gen Werachon Sukondhapatipak, Deputy Government Spokesperson, said the Prime Minister welcomed Iranian Vice President to Thailand to attend the 74th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). He conveyed his regards to the President of Iran whom he met during the latter’s official visit to Thailand to attend the 2nd Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit in 2016. He also congratulated the President on being reelected for the 2nd term. The Prime Minister stated that Thailand has followed up on the Middle East situation. With regard to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he hoped that Iran and JCPOA stakeholders could reach an agreement that will engender security and stability to the global community. The Iranian Vice President took the opportunity to extend an invitation for the Prime Minister to participate in the 3rd ACD Summit to be hosted by Iran this October. The Prime Minister also requested the Vice President for Iran to take good care of Thai citizens and businessmen in the country. (TNA)
