PM urges CLMTV countries to join forces on labour, agriculture cooperation

BANGKOK, September 4 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha called on Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam to cooperate with Thailand on stabilizing the prices of farm products in the region and ensure the legal movements of their workers. Addressing the first Ministerial Conference on Labour Cooperation in CLMTV standing for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam at Dusit Thani hotel today, Gen Prayut said he hoped that the meeting would convince the countries to improve the life of their workers in the region and join forces to manage the prices of their farm products well instead of competing with one another in order to prevent falling prices. The prime minister said that Thailand was the biggest importer of workers among the CLMTV and the countries should join forces to legalize the movements of their workers to standardise the job recruitment agencies to prevent human trafficking attempt and improve workers' skills. Gen Prayuth also invited people in CLMTV to visit Thailand. (TNA)
