PM to visit Ubon Ratchathani next Thursday

BANGKOK, Nov 5 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha plans to visit the northeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani next Thursday to follow-up his government-sponsored Village Fund programme and to explain to people the current political situation in Thailand. Ubon Ratchathani is one of the major strongholds of the so-called red shirt people, a major group of supporters of the previous government of Yingluck Shinawatra which was toppled by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) on May 22, 2014. Gen Prayut, also NCPO leader which led the bloodless coup, told journalists Thursday that he is expected to be briefed by Ubon Ratchathani officials during the visit whether people are satisfied with the Village Fund programme and whether any malpractices or corruptions were found.(TNA)
