Political Analyst: Iran N-talks With G5+1 Decisive

Tehran, Oct 12, IRNA – A senior Iranian political analyst said on Friday that the upcoming nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 in Geneva, Switzerland, are likely to yield promising results as the sextet believed time is ripe now for finding a way to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue. Sadeq Zibakalam, also a professor at the University of Tehran, told IRNA in an exclusive interview that if the Geneva talks led to breaking the nuclear stalemate, it would be regarded as a big success for Iran. A fresh round of talks is due to be held between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (US, France, Britain, Russia and China) plus Germany on Oct 15-16 in Geneva, Switzerland. In Geneva talks, both sides expect the other side to take confidence-building measures, Zibakalam said. The western states want to be assured that Iran’s nuclear activities are peaceful while Iran wants sanctions to be lifted and expects the other side to show good-will, said the analyst. He noted that president Hassan Rouhani’s visit to New York in late September and his conciliatory approach have raised hopes about finding a way to put an end to the dispute between Iran and the West over Tehran’s nuclear program./end
