Politicians ready for political reform

Bangkok, Nov 29 (TNA) – Politicians from five key political parties expressed readiness for political reform as authorities were sounding out relevant opinions before the next election. Key members of Chartthaipattana, Bhumjaithai, Chart Pattana, Democrat and Pheu Thai parties welcomed political reform but proposed the government set priorities of reform tasks, communicate them clearly and guarantee public participation and checks on the exercise of governmental authority. The government’s political reform committee will listen to political groups and academics. It may also sound out opinions from the military as politicians recommended. The political reform committee will finish its reform proposal within December. The national reform committee will then consider if any items may contradict other national reform plans. The political reform proposal will then be forwarded to the national strategy committee and the cabinet. It will be submitted to the National Legislative Assembly in April. (TNA)
