Pourdastan: Regional Countries Can Maintain Persian Gulf Security

Tehran, May 1, IRNA - Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said on Sunday that countries in the Persian Gulf region can maintain the security of the waterway without presence of aliens. The commander made the remarks on the occasion of April 29 marking the Persian Gulf Day on Sunday. Speaking to IRNA, he said Persian Gulf is an international waterway with many littoral states with Iran having the longest coastline. Referring to historical and geographical records on Persian Gulf, he said it is very clear that the name of the Persian Gulf definitely belongs to the ancient civilization of Iran and no other country. Presence of aliens in the region has no logical justification as they seek to create rifts among nations in the region, he said. Thanks God, the countries of the region are familiar with their ill-wishers and their plots and there is no doubt that they will never cooperate with the global arrogance to this end, he pointed out. Countries in the Persian Gulf region have reached the conclusion that they are capable enough to maintain the security of the region without reliance on aliens, said the commander. Referring to designation of April 29 as the Persian Gulf Day, he said the move sends the message to next generations to uphold their national identity and never let the aliens interfere in their internal affairs, he said./end
